CHARACTERIZATION OF A REAL-TIME, NEUTRON & GAMMA DETECTION SYSTEM AT IDAHO NATIONAL ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL LABORATORY
The real-time, neutron and gamma detection system evaluated and characterized at Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) is a pocket-sized, self-contained, portable and active system. Simultaneous neutron and gamma radiation detection is achieved by 9 mm diameter by 3 mm thick 6 Li and 7 Li glass scintillators mounted on miniature photomultiplier tubes (PMTs).
